CTA Communications Awards OCT. 9 N O M I N AT I O N D E A D L I N E The Communications Awards Program recognizes and honors CTA chapters, service centers and UniServs that communicate effectively with their members. CCA Fall Conference OCT. 9–11 C O N F E R E N C E Hilton San Jose. The Community College Association's fall conference offers a variety of trainings, highlights members' accomplishments, and focuses on membership engagement. Voluntary dues contribution NOV. 1 O PT- O U T D E A D L I N E Voluntary annual contributions by members support CTA Founda- tion's grants/scholarships and CTA's advocacy efforts. New members are automatically enrolled in the default contribution of $10 for the CTA Foun- dation and $10 for advocacy. Members may change their allocation or opt out. New members have 30 days from the date of enrollment; previously enrolled members have a window from Aug. 1 to Nov. 1. Presidential Election NOV. 3 E L ECT I O N Vote like your students depend on it. Get information on candidates and ballot initiatives, and volunteer to help CTA's campaign. Register to vote by Oct. 19. All California voters will be sent vote-by-mail ballots; if you miss or lose yours, you can request another vote-by-mail ballot by Oct. 27. American Education Week NOV. 16–20 E V E N T American Education Week is cele- brated the week prior to Thanksgiving week and includes special days to honor parents, education support professionals and substitute teachers. Day of Peace Celebrate United Nations International Day of Peace, Sept. 21, by spreading com- passion, kindness and hope in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Teach students to stand together against attempts to use the virus to promote discrimination or hatred.
