She's hoping to expand the donation program into neighboring districts. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit Choy and her family hard. Not only did she contract COVID-19 for three debilitating weeks, but her husband did as well, and her grandmother died of it. B e c a u s e of di st a n c e learning, h er pupp etr y instr uction was scaled way back, as supplying students with the neces- sar y material s to w ork on remotely was too dicult. Her other work, such as directing two school pro- ductions a year, has also been aected. Despite the past year's difficulties, C h o y r e m a i n s e x c i t e d a b o u t w h a t s h e's b e e n a b l e t o d o f o r s t u d e n t s and educators. "We not only have puppets in educa- tion, but a school that teaches puppetry," she says. "And I'm happy to provide free donated puppets or inexpensive ones to use in education."
