Be prepared — the look and feel will be different. I am so excited about the changes you'll be seeing because you suggested them! The extensive research and your feedback received over the past two years are building a better magazine. Members say most get their information about educational issues from this publication, in print and online. With that in mind, my hope is the redesigned magazine will help start conversations and promote thought and discussion. I want you to read what you want and need to know, professionally and personally, in these pages. Come September, you'll see the good work of colleagues told in a different way. I hope you will see yourself as we share the stories of your good work, your passion for education, and what's happening in your hometown. We want to make sure the magazine is entertaining and you-centered. So keep providing me feedback. I do like getting your letters. CONGRATULATIONS to Annie McQueen, Palo Alto Education Association, the winner of the April cartoon caption contest. Cartoonist Richard Crowson himself chose the winning entry. Annie receives a $100 gift card for school supplies plus the original artwork by Richard Crowson, including her win- "Oh my! The test directions said no tweeting allowed!" ning caption. See the top contenders at I WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU DID THIS SUMMER! Picture this: You're having an incredible summer of teaching and learning. And naturally, you're documenting the experience. August approaches, and you start thinking about school and the supplies you need. Is there an easy way to win up to $250 in school supplies — and see what your colleagues did over the summer for idea starters? Of course. And it's easy schmeezy. Just upload your video or photo albums to the site of your choice and e-mail the link to me at by Aug. 9. Yes, you must include your name, your local chapter, the topic and the location of your experience. See details on page 36. The September Educator will feature three fun examples of what our members did over the summer. Maybe it'll be you!
