Women's
Equality Day
AUG. 26
The day celebrates the 19th
Amendment, passed in 1920,
which guarantees American
women the right to vote. Today,
we fight on for pay equity, wom-
en's choice and autonomy, and
much more. Talk to students
about the meaning of equality
and the work needed to achieve
it. Find resources at aclu.org
(under "women's rights") and
seejane.org.
Labor Day SEPT. 4
The holiday honors the struggles and contributions of working people. CTA
has advocated for educators' (and students') rights since our founding in 1863.
Teach students about the importance of labor unions — find resources at
pbslearningmedia.org, zinnedproject.org and learningforjustice.org.
