Yes on Prop. 3 Prop. 3 is a permanent extension of Props. 30 and 55, which both passed overwhelmingly by voters in 2012 and 2016, respectively, and increased taxes on the state's wealthiest to support public education and health care. Since the tax was first approved, it has generated more than $120 billion to support school communities and pro- vide the resources our students need, including smaller class sizes, universal school lunches, mental health and social-emotional support for students, and Medi-Cal cov- erage for millions of California families. Prop. 3 keeps that funding in place so our students can continue to thrive. The choice for voters is simple: Support California stu- dents or cut taxes for millionaires. Our kids are counting on us to win for them and the schools they deserve. With 1-in-6 educators in public schools and community colleges facing layoffs without a tax extension, the stakes are too high to watch this campaign from the sidelines. The time to take action is now. By the Numbers • Prop. 3 permanently extends a voter-approved tax on the wealthy to continue providing funding to California's public schools and community colleges. This tax generated more than $14.6 billion last year and $120 billion since it was first approved in 2012. • Failing to pass Prop. 3 would mean an immediate 15% cut to funding for public schools and community colleges, with one in every six educators potentially losing their jobs. • Prop. 3 extends the current tax applied to couples earning more than $740,000 a year — it does not change any other taxes. These funds have allowed us to make transformative investments in our students including universal transitional kindergarten and community schools and avoid deep cuts to the people and programs our students need.
