Editor@cta.org; #WeAreCTA URGENT: Your Voice at the Door P R O P O S I T I O N 3 I S a November ballot initiative that makes permanent a temporary tax on wealthier Califor- nians that funds public education — to the tune of $15 billion each year. (It also funds health care systems and many other things.) Making that funding permanent is crucial to sustaining the progress we have made in the past decade in build- ing strong schools and ensuring student success. We must fight to win Prop. 3. Educators are the most trusted voices in communities, and the most powerful and impactful path to victory will be our conversations on voters' doorsteps. Vice President Enrique Chavez CTA Leaders Step Up for NEA A T T H I S Y E A R ' S NEA Representative Assembly (RA), two longtime CTA leaders were elected to national leadership roles at NEA. Robert V. Rodriguez, a special education teacher in the San Bernardino City Unified School District, is the new NEA Secretary-Treasurer, and UTLA President Cecily Myart-Cruz was elected to the NEA Executive Committee. Rodriguez previously served on NEA's Executive Com- mittee and Board of Directors, CTA's Board of Directors, and as president and vice president of the San Bernardino Teachers Association. He joins Princess Moss and Noel Candelaria, elected at NEA RA as NEA President and Vice President , respectively. Myart-Cruz, an elementary and middle school teacher in Los Angeles who began her career as an education support professional, has spent the last 30 years advocating for students and her colleagues.
