ACTION at the Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles on Nov. 4 for the festive election night celebra- tion. Shortly after the polls closed at 8 p.m., and projections were being made that Barack Obama would be the new presi- dent, the crowd erupted into a sustained cheer that lasted throughout the night. In the midst of the party, CTA Obama win a victory for public education T housands of Democratic supporters and revelers crowded the massive hall president David A. Sanchez took to the stage and delivered his con- gratulations to Obama, touting him as a leader with the ability and vision to positively change public education. “This historic election of Ba- rack Obama as president of the United States is a victory for all of our public school students as well,” said Sanchez. “He has the vi- sion and compassion to lead real change across this great nation. Change in our health care, in our classrooms, and in our future. Senator Obama’s vision of change in America includes investing more in our schools — which is an investment in a brighter future for our country. Other notable speakers at- tending the festivity included Sen- ator Barbara Boxer, California State Controller John Chiang, and California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell — all of whom talked about the positive change Obama will bring CTA President David A.
