Advocating for the profession Can you think of any aspect of your job — from when you can take breaks to how much funding your district gets from the state to national education policy around achievement — that isn't impacted by a political decision at some level of government? Neither can we. That's why we make sure your voice is heard in your local school board meetings, in Sacramento and in Washington, D.C. CTA is the strongest and most e ective advocate for public education and the teaching profession. Wherever there is public commentary about public schools, CTA is there advocating for high-quality teaching and successful learning. Ask a Teacher In television and radio ads, in English, Spanish and Asian languages, four CTA teachers speak out about the need for a well-rounded education, smaller class sizes, technical and career education, making college a ordable for all students, and stopping the overemphasis on standardized testing. CTA launched the statewide media campaign recognizing the wealth of expert knowledge that educators possess about our public schools and encouraging the public to "ask a teacher" to know more about what works best to help students learn and other local education issues. ASK A TEACHER So, if you have a question about your local school or education in California It's teachers who know our children's education must be well rounded – including music, art, science and career technical training. They know teaching to a standardized test isn't the answer. Schools must be well funded to keep class sizes small. And college should be affordable to all students. Quality public schools make a better California for all of us. cta.org Paid for by California Teachers Association Opportunities to let your voice be heard on issues that impact students and your profession. • P E R K • 4 10 California Teachers Association Member Guide
