CTA & You Calendar SEPTEMBER 28 Application Deadline Instructional Leadership Corps CTA, the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE), and the National Board Resource Center (NBRC) have received a collaborative grant to create a corps of educators with expertise in the instructional shifts needed to implement Common Core State Standards in ELA and math, and the Next Generation Science Standards. Those selected for the three-year project will create and lead regional professional development. Each ILC member will receive a stipend of $2,000 for Project Year 1. OCTOBER 1 Application Deadline NEA Foundation Grants The NEA Foundation awards grants to edu- cators. Student Achievement Grants support improving academic achievement; Learning and Leadership Grants support high-quality professional development activities. New members have 30 days from the date of enrollment; previously enrolled members have a win- dow from Aug. 1 to Nov. 1. In 1919, 95 years ago, the American Legion and the National Education Association work to seek ways to generate public support for education. The result: increased support for public schools. American Education Week is celebrated annually the week prior to the week of Thanksgiving.
