$5.4 Billion More for Schools
But report finds California still ranks
46th in the nation in per-pupil funding

G O V. J E R R Y B R O W N has proposed increasing
funding for public education by more than $5.4
billion in the 2016-17 state budget.
His proposal would spend more than $72
billion of the $123 billion general fund budget
on California's schools and colleges.
The state's Proposition 98 K-12 per-pupil
funding would rise to $10,591 — up $368 from
the current year and an increase of nearly
$3,600 compared with 2011-12.
