Encourage your students to make it "a day on, not a day off " and honor Dr. King's life of service by volunteering to improve their communities. There are many ways to help, from cleaning local parks to delivering food to home-bound neighbors, and even more opportunities for those who can volunteer reg- ularly. Find events and volunteer activities at americorps.gov/newsroom/events/mlk-day. Educators can also design their own day (or semester); find ideas, toolkits, action guides and classroom facilitator guides at ysa.org/resources.
