Bargaining Roundup Compiled by Julian Peeples GLENDALE: Pay and benefit increase after one day at table Glendale Teachers Assn. members won increases to their wages and benefits after a single day of bargaining in spring. GTA won a 4.5% pay increase for the 2025–26 school year, health care savings (which paid for about half of the wage increase), and guaranteed prep time for service providers. "Our success is the product of our collective efforts to build power, win a pro-educator school board majority, increase member involvement in our union and rebuild relationships with district leaders," GTA Bargaining Chair Sarah Morri- son said in a message to members. GTA will go back into bargaining this fall. MILLER CREEK: Educators organize and win contract after mediation The small but mighty Miller Creek Education Assn. organized and fought to win a 2.3% wage increase through the end of this school year and all increases to health benefits paid by the district. This victory came after a lengthy bargain, where MCEA and the district were released to fact-finding but were able to come to agreement during informal mediation. PORTERVILLE: Educators organizing and escalating for better Porterville Educators Assn. is in mediation after declaring impasse in May, following Por- terville Unified's continued lack of respect for its educators and students. After months of meet- ings and dialogue about safe and respectful working conditions and fair compensation, district admin imposed its last, best and final offer on PEA members — an offer that falls short of addressing members' core concerns. PEA continues to organize and fight for safe and stable school campuses, smaller class sizes, fair compensation and workplaces free of retaliation and intimida- tion. While the district has thus far dismissed or minimized these issues, PEA members are com- mitted to the fight.
