Radio campaign for education funding it’s hard to give kids what they need for a successful tomorrow, according to San Juan Teachers Association member Stephanie Floyd-Smith, who is featured in CTA’s most recent radio cam- paign. The “Faces” radio spot — so named for the glimpse of the future seen in the faces of stu- dents each day — ran as part of CTA’s ongoing push for improved funding for public education. Efforts to motivate and chal- W lenge students and to give them a love for learning are enhanced when educators are equipped ith California ranking 46th among all states for public school funding, with adequate resources, says Floyd-Smith, an eighth-grade teacher. “The better their educa- tion, the more opportunity for a successful tomorrow, and the bet- ter off we’ll all be.” Says CTA President David A. Sanchez in the spot, which ran in both En glish a nd S panish, “Schools face overcrowded class- rooms and out-of-date textbooks, and most schools no longer offer art, music, or vocational educa- tion — courses that prepare kids for life and provide a well-round- ed education.
