N H I S 2 1 S T B I R T H D A Y in 2007, Specialist Jerral Hancock (above center) was
trapped in a tank that exploded into flames after it ran over a bomb on
a street in Iraq. The explosion left him paralyzed from the chest down, missing
his left arm, with partial use of his right arm and burns covering 30 percent of his body.
Hancock was trapped in the tank for 90 minutes, while his fellow U.S. Army soldiers
attempted to rescue him.
