Heads up Deadlines HUMAN RIGHTS AWARDS Jan. 8, 2010 The CTA Human Rights Awards Program was adopted by CTA’s State Council of Education in October 1984, and was further augmented to in- clude seven new categories of awards in the ensuing years. The goal of the awards program is to promote the development of programs for the ad- vancement and protection of human and civil rights within the associa- tion. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS March 5, 2010 CTA and Student CTA established a living memorial in the form of a scholarship fund to aid members of ethnic minorities in preparing for teaching related careers in public education. This scholarship is sup- ported by voluntary contributions from the CTA membership and the CTA Foundation for Teaching and Learning. Scholarships vary each year depending on the amount of contributions and on the financial need of individual applicants. In order to be eligible, an applicant must be pursu- ing a teaching-related career in public education and be a member of a defined ethnic minority group. Applications for this scholarship are due by Friday, March 5, 2010.
