The Instructional Leadership Corps (ILC), a partnership of CTA, the Stan- ford C enter for Opportunity Policy in E d u c a t i o n , a n d t h e Na t i o n a l B o a r d Resource Center at Stanford University, was launched in 2014 so educators can take charge of their own professional development, based on teachers teach- i n g t e a c h e r s . S o f a r, I L C h a s s e r v e d close to 84,000 educators in more than 2,000 Cali forni a publi c sch o o l s in at least 465 districts. As part of the project's Phase 2 that is now under way, ILC is providing profes- sional development opportunities in rural and geographically isolated areas. Several of ILC 's Rural Cohort teams h av e o f f e re d t ra i n i n g t o c o l l e a g u e s already. " We are looking at different ways to provide professional de velopm ent in hard-to-reach areas and are consider- ing blended and online formats," says C TA P re si d ent Eric Heins. " We hop e t h a t b y a d d i n g t e a c h e r s f r o m r u r a l areas, we will develop their capacity to ILC member Phe Bach presents the Lakeport session on mindfulness.
