NEA has expanded its support for early career edu- cators with a new site called NEA Today's School Me (neatoday.org/school-me). School Me features blog posts and podcasts from a diverse group of NEA and CTA members, who provide guidance, tips and tricks of the trade based on actual experience. For example, CTA Board member Robert V. Rodriguez participates in a March podcast discuss- ing how to handle tough parent meetings. School Me's videos, meanwhile, offer step-by- step visuals of how to create fun and quick classroom activities for students. A R E Y O U A N ethnic minority member of CTA? Are you interested in broadening your knowledge of the association and exploring a possible role in leadership? CTA's Ethnic Minority Early Identification and Development Program (EMEID) can help you. EMEID promotes and develops ethnic minority leadership in the organization, locally and statewide. It builds on existing CTA/NEA programs, trainings, conferences and events, and incorporates coaching and interaction with leadership from local chapters, CTA/NEA, as well as CTA Board members and staff. Members selected to participate in EMEID 2018-19 begin the program in June and finish 15 months later. They must commit to attending the Emerging Leaders strand at CTA's Summer Institute, at UCLA July 29-Aug. 2, 2018. To apply, see cta.org/emeid. Key dates: Apply online starting March 1; applica- tion deadline is April 27. Applicants will be notified by May 18, 2018. The EMEID class of 2017-18 Your CalSTRS Annual Progress Report, that is. The California State Teachers' Retirement Sys- tem (CalSTRS) updates members' progress report each September to reflect the prior year 's service credit. Reports are available electronically at mycalstrs.com. (You can create your mycalstrs.com account.) Those wishing to continue receiving a hard copy of the report should contact CalSTRS at 800-228-5453 to request a form, or download the form at mycalstrs.com. Forms must be received by July 1. Inside California Education P U B L I C T E L E V I S I O N series "Inside California Education" begins its second season on March 7 (check local PBS listings, or insidecaled.org, for show dates and times). From small rural districts to big city schools, each of the 13 episodes features four segments to tell the education stories of interest to students, parents, educators and community leaders throughout the state.
