C T A M E M B E R S A R E organizing and mobilizing to win on Elec- tion Day for our students, public schools and our democracy with more than 2,000 school board seats, state legislative and congressional offices and the presidency of the United States facing voters this fall. As we fight back against extremists who want to ban books and rewrite history, privatizers working to monetize our public schools, and corporations and the super wealthy who refuse to pay their fair share, this election is also about fight- ing forward β for equitable resources and opportunities for all our students and communities. CTA President David Goldberg says this election is far too important to watch from the sidelines. "We have to go all-in on the Novem- ber election. With 2,000 school board races, congressional seats and the pres- idency on the ballot, we can't sit this one out," Goldberg says. "Our actions have the power to impact the future of our public schools for decades to come β join me in fighting back against threats and fighting forward to seize opportunities to build the schools all students deserve." Our state budget victories this past spring protected guar- anteed education funding and removed the possibility of any additional layoffs at the start of the school year. CTA members throughout the state called on legislators to prioritize public education. After reaching agreement to protect funding for pub- lic schools with Gov. Gavin Newsom (who CTA has supported at every level of his service), members visited legislators, urging their support for our students and communities. With every seat in the Assembly and half the seats in the state Senate up for election this fall, it's crucial to turn out in every community and every district across California to ensure the Capitol is filled with elected officials who share our vision for pub- lic schools and believe in the power of public education. "Our communities are depending on us to lead the fight for the schools a l l s t u d e n t s d e s e r v e a n d r e a d y t o stand shoulder -to-shoulder with us to defend public education," Goldberg says. "Every single race matters on the November ballot β let 's get out the vote and win them all for our students and communities!"
